The castles of King Ludwig II dot the mountainous landscapes of southern Germany. In the first image, the Hohenschwangau Castle can be seen among the towering Bavarian Alps. The second, Neuschwanstein Castle, was conceptualized, funded and built by King Ludwig II. After years of building, construction of the palace was not fully completed until after the kings death in the 1890s. To this day the structure is a renowned tourist stop in Germany and the is the main inspiration for the princess castle in Disneyland.
